Winter Festival Newcastle show grounds . This year’s annual braai/potjiekos forms part of our unique 3 hour mountain bike lap race. Riders can spend time inside our pit zone (the braai/potjie event) for as long as they want given there fitness level/competitive feel. Riders and spectators can be part of each lap passing.
Bookings for the braai/potjie stall for your corporate team/individuals can be booked separate at the Winter Festival.
Race entries include a ticket for a full line up for Friday 1 May. Team entries includes 4 tickets.Line up incl Leah,Tatum,Biggy,Jan Bloukaas and Timo ODV
Time
Friday 1 May 2020 Start: 10:00 (Le Mans-style start with 100m run) Most laps in 3 hours will award the first male R1000 and R1000 for the first female rider!
Number pick-up:Fri 1st of May at venue -07:00- 09:30
Format: Cross country/lap racing (±5 km). Most laps/shortest time within the allotted 3 hours
Cut-off times
No rider will be allowed to leave the pit zone at 12:30 for a complete lap, instead they will be guided to the finish line. To be in line for a finisher medal a rider/team not busy with the last lap, has to ride over finish line after 12:30.
Yes this means you can ride one lap, have a few refreshments and get your medal.
Route
Opposite the venue, with spectators in mind, the old motocross track on the hill will be utilized and riders will move to the oval track and then move back into the main arena and finish in the braai/potjiekos area. The track has fun and safety in mind, the route is ideal for wet or dry conditions alike, the route is fairly challenging and medium level of fitness and skill is required, the route is fair with ample opportunity to pass, the route and venue is secure.
